PLASU AWARDS CONTRACTS FOR MAJOR PROJECTS

As part of its efforts to transform the institution into a global citadel of learning, the authorities of Plateau State University have awarded contracts for the execution of three infrastructural projects to qualified contractors.

The projects include the construction of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences Building extension, renovation of the Senate Building, and construction of a block perimeter fence, all under the 2025 TETfund annual intervention and the 2025 TETfund Special Allocation for Disaster Recovery Intervention.

According to a statement from the University signed by Masara Kim, the Acting PRO, the handing over of the projects followed a rigorous screening process.

Performing the handing over, PLASU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shedrack Best, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the university’s infrastructural and academic standards and emphasized the need for timely and quality delivery of the projects.

The VC said, “We will provide you with all the necessary support, but you must ensure timely delivery and adherence to specifications.”

Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academics, Prof. Moses Galadima, the VC further stated, “These projects are very important to our administration, and we expect nothing less than excellence.”

Earlier in their separate remarks, PLASU Director of Physical Facility, Builder Sarah Tsemwan Wayo, and Provost of the Medical College, who was represented by the Dean of Health and Allied Science, Dr Sarah, all expressed readiness to ensure the successful execution of the projects.

Speaking on behalf of the contractors, Greg Lawani of Harriman Engineering Ltd and Everest Miri of Blossom Innovators Ltd pledged their commitment to delivering high-quality work.

While soliciting the continued cooperation of the university management to ensure a seamless construction process, the contractors assured that they would deliver the projects on schedule.

The extension of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences Building and the solid block perimeter fence have been awarded to Harriman Engineering Ltd. The medical sciences building is expected to be completed in 52 weeks.

Blossom Innovators Limited is to handle the perimeter fencing and is slated for completion in 16 weeks with an expected completion time of 13 weeks.
