THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE GRAND RECEPTION FOR GOVERNOR CALEB MUTFWANG

On Thursday, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State was at the presidential villa, Abuja, where he met and had discussions with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on what are believed to be issues concerning the development of the country and Plateau State.

Since Governor Mutfwang took a bold step in the political equation of the country to align his state with the party at the centre, more doors of cooperation and collaboration have been opened to the Government and its citizens of Plateau State.

Within a short period of time, prominent sons and daughters of the state have been appointed into key positions to serve the country, while the tension that gripped the state due to partisan differences has evaporated as more people have been brought under a common platform.

This is why the grand reception in honour of the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, for coming into the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a welcome development that is long overdue.

Billed for the historic Polo Field in Jos, the honour represents a significant turning point in the political dynamics of Plateau State and the wider Nigerian polity due to the optics of unity, progress and cohesion it evinces.

The ceremony will attract an impressive array of dignitaries, including the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Kashim Shettima; the National Chairman of the APC, Prof Nentawe Yilwada, himself a proud son of Plateau State, serving governors, national officers of the APC, lawmakers, and prominent party stalwarts from across the country.

This is a constellation that will trigger a new wave of political consciousness, inspire hope in the economy andassure the citizenry of the quality leadership in the APC.

For the APC, the gathering would serve to unite members, build cohesion and prepare it for the 2027 general elections.

It will also highlight Plateau State’s renewed relevance in national political calculations as strategic alignment designed to enhance good governance is put in place.

As states that align with the party at the centre often enjoy smoother intergovernmental relations and greater access to federal resources, it stands to reason that, henceforth, this move could unlock opportunities for Plateau State in key sectors of the economy.

It will also enhance infrastructure development, security reinforcement, agriculture, and social investment programmes.

The realignment, therefore, is not merely as partisan repositioning but a calculated step toward accelerated development.

The historic event is bound to attract a massive turnout of party faithful, youth groups, women’s organisations, and community leaders.

Governor Mutfwang’s alignment with the center will strengthen the APC while offering Plateau citizens a clearer pathway to national relevance.

It would be recalled that Governor Mutfwang was presented with an APC membership card on Friday, 2nd January, 2026, at the Victoria Gowon Hall in Jos, following his formal resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in an event witnessed by national figures, stakeholders in the Plateau project and party dignitaries.

The grand reception will be the crowning glory for citizens buy in and the broadening of the political platform to accommodate all interests.

In conclusion, the grand reception of Governor Caleb Mutfwang into the APC stands as a landmark political event with far-reaching benefits for Plateau and the entire North Central region.
