Don’t Shirk Civic Duties, ECWA President Tells Youth at Aba Int’l Confab

The President of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Rev. Dr. Job Ayuba Bagat, has charged the church’s youth not to neglect their civic responsibilities but to take them seriously.

Rev. Bagat made the call at the official opening of the ongoing ECWA Youth Fellowship International (EYFI) Triennial Conference at the MPN International Convention Centre (Gilgal) in Obizor-Asa, Abia State.

Speaking to the youth who converged in their thousands, the cleric described the conference theme as a divine mandate.

“God is calling on the Youth to keep their lamp burning. This is not a mere slogan, but a divine calling,” he stated.

While acknowledging the modern world’s challenges—moral confusion, political instability, economic hardship, and spiritual decline—Rev. Bagat urged youth to remain spiritually alert and prepared.

He reminded them that ECWA is rich heritage in doctrine, evangelism, missions, and holiness, and called on them to build on the church’s foundations.

In a separate address, the Director of ECWA Christian Education, Rev. Reuben Yaro, expressed gratitude to God for the success of the conference.

He encouraged participants at the conference to live as role models, urging them not to let anyone despise their youth, but to set an example for believers in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.

Also addressing the gathering, the Trustee for Zone 10, Prof. Basil Nwosu, reminded the youths of their identity as “the king’s kids.” He charged them to remain faithful, available, and teachable so that God can continue to use them appropriately.

Earlier, the leader of the ECWA Youth Fellowship International, Bro. Musa Gurati Joseph described the triennial conference as the fellowship’s “global altar.” He explained that it is a sacred time, held every three years, for the entire ECWA Youth family to unite in fellowship and purpose. Reflecting on the journey, Bro. Joseph noted that the planning for the 2026 conference began in Zone 10 back in 2019, and he thanked God for making the event a reality in His own time.
