INEC Seeks Partnership with PLASIEC for Successful CVR Exercise

The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to credible and inclusive polls.
Chairman of PLASIEC, Mr Plangji Cishak stated this when he played host to the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Plateau State, Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq while on a familiarization visit to PLASIEC Headquarters in Jos.
Receiving the REC who was in company of other top officials of other INEC officials, Mr. Cishak described the visit as a strategic step toward reinforcing inter-agency synergy in electoral administration.
Mr Cishak while acknowledging the support of INEC to PLASIEC during the October 9, 2024, Local Government Elections also commended the INEC REC for his professionalism, transparency, and commitment to justice, qualities which he said aligned with PLASIEC’s core values and aspirations.
He also intimated the INEC REC on some of PLASIEC’s strides toward technological innovation, including the ongoing improvements to its Voter Verification Software (VVS), targeted at enhancing the credibility of future elections in the state.
Earlier in his remarks, Plateau State Resident Electoral Commissioner Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq reiterated INEC’s commitment to a timely and efficient CVR exercise in Plateau State.
He added that the visit to PLASIEC was aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration between the two electoral bodies, especially as preparations intensify for the CVR across the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
Alhaji Sadiq disclosed that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise which would be carried out in two phases will commence from August 18 2025 with an Online Pre-registration while Physical Registration would commence from August 25, 2025 across all the 17 LGAs in the state.
Sadiq who underscored the importance of collaboration between INEC and PLASIEC in deepening democratic governance acknowledged that while INEC conducts national and state-level elections, PLASIEC plays a critical role in the administration of local government elections.
He solicited for a joint sensitization effort to encourage widespread public participation in the voter registration exercise.
At the end of the visit, the commissions reiterated their shared commitment to upholding democratic values through transparent, credible, and people-centered electoral processes.
The partnership between PLASIEC and INEC is expected to boost public trust, drive voter participation, and further strengthen the electoral landscape in Plateau State.
