“Dear brothers and colleagues in ministry, may I reiterate that we are called to shepherd not in comfort but in conflict. We serve in days when truth is questioned, suffering is common, and distractions abound.”

These were the words of ECWA President, Rev. Dr. Ayuba Job Bagat, at the opening of the ongoing 2025 triennial ECWA Pastors International Conference in Karu, Nasarawa State.

The cleric reminded the pastors that they were called to be shepherds, not in comfort, but in conflict.

He admonished them that Christ, the Chief Shepherd, has not abandoned His church.

Rev. Dr. Bagat encouraged them not to “merely survive the pressures of this age but thrive in them, strengthened by grace, guided by Scripture, and fuelled by the Spirit.”

Acknowledging the sacrifices made by participants to attend the conference, the ECWA President said, “Your presence here, despite the harsh global economic realities and the increasing wave of anti-religious hostility, is a powerful testimony to your unwavering commitment to Christ and His Church.”

“But be encouraged: your labour is not in vain. This conference is a divine appointment, and I believe God has something refreshing, empowering, and unifying in store for each one of us.

“Let this time be one of renewal, connection, and divine strengthening. May the Lord meet you at every point of your need and restore you fully for the work ahead. “Once again, welcome, and may the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ abound with you throughout this gathering.
