SHOULD PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP INVADE NIGERIA?

Following President Tinubu’s objection to America’s designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC), President Trump has threatened to invade Nigeria to wipe out Islamic terrorists, terrorising the country! This threat has ruffled many feathers because everyone knows that Trump is a ‘Talk and Do’ kind of person. So, the issue is, should Trump invade Nigeria as he has threatened?
First, I wish to say it’s unfortunate that the powers that be in Nigeria went into unnecessary altercations with America on whether or not there is genocide against Christians in Nigeria! The world, as I have always maintained, is a global village. Nothing is hidden anywhere! President Trump and his lieutenants have all the facts and figures at their fingertips of what is happening! To try to refute and discard the allegations of genocide is to add insult to injury!
How can you deny genocide and persecution against Christians when, since 2014, many of the abducted Chibok girls are still in captivity? And since February 2018, Leah Sharibu has also been in captivity! And the whole world knows that Leah is still being held because she refused to renounce her faith in Jesus! And only last week, scores of Christians were killed and many more kidnapped in Kaduna state! The same thing is going on in Plateau, Benue, and Nasarawa states!
Besides these, how many Christian communities in Kaduna, Plateau, and Benue states have been wiped off, and the aggressors are occupying them? In Plateau State alone, there are more than 60 of them!
So, then, no one really wants Trump to invade Nigeria. But with the grim situation briefly outlined here, how can one tell Trump not to come?
So, if President Tinubu doesn’t want Trump to send his forces to invade Nigeria, he and his security forces should do the following:
- Release Leah Sharibu immediately!
- Release the remaining Chibok girls immediately.
- Release all the abducted citizens in the dens of kidnappers all over Nigeria immediately.
- Bring all the kidnappers and their sponsors to book.
- Refund to the victim families all the ransoms collected by these hoodlums over the years.
- Dislodge the illegal occupiers of Christian communities and return them to their ancestral homes.
- Recall all the ‘repented terrorists’ serving in the security forces and prosecute them for their past crimes.
- Identify and prosecute all the sponsors and financiers of terrorism, and adequate punishment be meted out on them as a deterrent.
- Destroy the political and structural frameworks that seek to marginalize and emasculate Christians in some Northern states.
- Give Christians their due rights and privileges in all Nigerian states, but especially in the North.
There are many more that one can add. But if these few are effected then there would be no need to tell Trump to come!
