Rev. Dikwa Petitions FG over Sheikh Jingir’s Sermons, Accuses Him of Long History of Incitement

The Director General of the Centre for Justice on Religious and Ethnicity in Nigeria, Rev. Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa, has petitioned the federal government to take action against prominent Islamic cleric Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, accusing him of a decades-long pattern of inciting Muslim youths to attack Christians in Northern Nigeria.

In a statement dated August 10, 2026, Rev. Dikwa alleged that Jingir’s “inciting and brainwashing” did not start in 2015 or 2023, but dates back to 2003 in Jos, Plateau State.

Rev. Dikwa claimed that as far back as 2003, Jingir incited Muslim youths in Jos against the PDP and President Olusegun Obasanjo, describing him as an “Infidel President.” According to the statement, that was followed by a crisis in Jos North LGA in which “many Christian children, women, and Men” were killed and “over 20 Churches” were burned. “Government did nothing to arrest him,” he said.

He further alleged that in 2011, Jingir preached an “inciting sermon” in Argungu, Kebbi State, telling his congregation that former leaders including Prime Minister Sir Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Gen. Murtala Muhammad, Gen. Sani Abacha, and President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua “were killed by the Christian infidels.”

Rev. Dikwa claimed Jingir told the congregation that “The Muslim Ummah must continue to wage war against them and never allow any Christian President to rule the country again, and Muslims must continue to kill Christians.”

He said the Emir of Argungu, the then Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly were present at the event.

The cleric said he produced 5 VCDs documenting Jingir’s sermons and submitted them to the Department of State Services Headquarters in Abuja, the Office of the President, and the Office of the Senate President.

“Only the office of the Senate President replied to me that they have forwarded it to the Senate Chairman committee on National Security and intelligence, but up till today nothing has been done to date,” Rev. Dikwa stated.

Rev. Dikwa warned that if “sane and patriotic Nigerians keep quiet over this evil,” it could “One-Day Burst Beyond remedy” and lead to “an Avoidable religious war (God forbid).”

“There is serious need for government to promptly stop this madness,” he said.
