MDA Condemns Bin Mper, Murish Attacks, says 28 Killed as Bandits Destroy Homes, Farmlands
- Commends Gov. Mutfwang, Military for swift intervention

The Mwaghavul Development Association, MDA, has condemned the recent attacks on Bin Mper and Murish communities in Plateau State, saying 28 people were killed and property worth millions of naira destroyed by armed bandits.
In a press release issued on Saturday, August 23, 2026, and signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Friday Derwam, the Association said the Central Working Committee held an extraordinary meeting to review the deteriorating security situation on Mwaghavul ancestral lands.
The MDA described the attacks as “unprovoked acts of aggression” that left homes, farmlands and other property destroyed.
It said the MDA “mourns this devastating loss and stands in complete solidarity with the affected families.”
Despite the tragedy, the Association commended security agencies and the Plateau State Government for preventing further escalation.
It also applauded the General Officer Commanding the 3rd Armoured Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace for what it called “swift operational responses and improved inter-agency synergy across the region.”
The MDA also expressed gratitude to Governor Caleb Mutfwang for “deep empathy and hands-on leadership.”
According to the MDA, the Governor personally visited Bin Mper, ordered the immediate deployment of security personnel, pledged relief interventions, and committed to constructing access roads to enable rapid security response.
The Committee said these actions “have greatly comforted our people and restored a sense of safety.”
The MDA further paid tribute to Mwaghavul youth for their “extraordinary resilience, courage, and vigilance” in defending communities within lawful limits.
It assured them of the Association’s “unwavering support, ongoing prayers, and continuous backing.”
The Association used the opportunity to call on governments at the local, state, and federal levels to make security their top priority.
“Security of life and property is the fundamental duty of governance,” the statement said.
“We demand sustained, decisive military action to secure all vulnerable communities, dismantle bandit hideouts, and permanently end the cycle of violence across Plateau State and Nigeria at large.”
