Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, will be in Plateau State on Wednesday to meet government and security stakeholders, as the state grapples with a fresh spate of attacks that have claimed no fewer than 20 lives in seven days.
The Plateau Police Command confirmed the visit in a statement on Tuesday signed by its spokesperson, SP Alfred Alabo.
Police authorities said the IGP’s visit will focus on strengthening collaboration, reviewing police formations, and working with traditional rulers and other stakeholders to restore calm and prevent further bloodshed.
According to the statement, the IGP’s itinerary will include a courtesy visit to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, a session at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, and an inspection of the Police Staff College in Jos.

On Thursday, IGP Disu is expected to tour the Plateau State Police Headquarters before departing Jos.
“The Plateau State Police Command cordially invites members of the media on the Plateau to cover the official visit,” the statement said, urging news organizations to deploy reporters and cameramen.
The visit by the Police IG is coming after a series of deadly attacks across Jos South, Mangu and Riyom LGAs.
Recall that on Sunday night, September 13, gunmen attacked a commercial bus at Dungus Junction in Kuru, Jos South. At least nine passengers were killed around 9:40 p.m. while the vehicle was heading to Jos. Berom Youth Moulders spokesman, Rwang Tengwong, said several others were injured.
A member of Operation Rainbow was also reported killed in the attack.
Elsewhere in Mangu, the Mwaghavul Youth Movement said four people were killed in four communities between September 11 and 12. The MYM listed the communities as Kikyau, Larkas, Ntul and Kinat.
Geoffrey Gumut, 55, was reportedly beheaded in Kikyau on September 11. Katbam Titus, 29, was killed in Kinat on September 12. Pius Dachen, 50, and Zadok Irmiya, 25, died in Ntul, while Danjuma Kyesle was injured in Larkas and is hospitalized.
The youth group noted that the Kinat killing happened hours after the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Nigerian Army, met with Mwaghavul and Fulani leaders in Mangu.
The new attacks add to an August incident where at least 25 people were killed in an overnight raid on a Plateau village, highlighting the recurring violence linked to farmer
