ECWA General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Ayuba Asheshe, has commended Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for his developmental efforts across the state.
The cleric gave the commendation when he led executives of the nine District Church Councils (DCCs) on the Plateau on a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House, Jos.
He stated that Plateau is blessed with hardworking and resilient people, rich agricultural resources, a vibrant youthful population and a strong Christian heritage, noting that governing the state amid insecurity that has claimed lives, displaced families and destroyed livelihoods is an enormous responsibility.

The ECWA scribe commended the governor, Mutfwang, for the visible developments and interventions, especially in infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development.
He added that ECWA, with its headquarters in Plateau State, has contributed significantly to the state’s growth through evangelism, education, healthcare, agriculture, employment generation, community development and human capacity building.
“Like Oliver Twist, ECWA and the nine District Church Councils on the Plateau would continue to demand more, so that the Church can expand its evangelistic outreach,” he said.
Responding, Governor Mutfwang thanked God for the ministry of ECWA on the Plateau and referenced the 1960 Independence speech of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, in which he appreciated the Church in Nigeria for its contributions to education and healthcare.

The Governor particularly lauded ECWA’s role in education and the impact of its health institutions, describing the Bingham University Teaching Hospital as a leading hospital not only in Nigeria but in Africa for the treatment of Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF).
Gov. Mutfwang also cited Bingham Teaching Hospital, ECWA Farms, ECWA Central Pharmacy and the historic Miango Rest Home as beacons of service to all, irrespective of faith.
He restated his commitment to strengthening partnership between government and the Church. He said his administration will continue to leverage the Church’s well-established structures to bring governance closer to the people.
“When families are empowered and lifted out of poverty, the Church itself becomes stronger to carry out its God-given mandate,” the governor stated, assuring that his administration will continue to utilize ECWA structures to reach ordinary people.
