Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State was on Saturday enveloped in prayers as hundreds of Christians held a prophetic prayer walk across the town under the banner of Mangu Prays 2026.The prayer movement, which began with an all-night vigil at Rapture Gospel Church, Mangu, culminated in a 5:00am procession that took worshippers from the church to the palace, through major streets, to the Local Government Secretariat.

According to the organizers, the night vigil witnessed intense prayers, deliverance, miracles and instant testimonies, after which intercessors moved into the streets to intercede for the land.

From there, they marched to the palace of the paramount ruler of the Mwaghavul nation, where they offered prayers for the royal father and the traditional institution in the locality for wisdom, divine counsel and a peaceful reign.

From the palace, the crowd moved through major streets of Mangu town, declaring peace into homes, business places offering prayers against fear, bloodshed and insecurity that has bedevilled the land.

The walk ended at the Mangu Local Government Council Secretariat, where prayers were offered for the Council executive and all political leaders for justice, fairness and development-driven decisions.

The organizers said their united cry was for restoration of peace in Mangu LGA, Plateau State and Nigeria at large, anchored on 2 Chronicles 7:14.

“Today, Mangu humbled itself, prayed and sought the face of God, and we believe God has heard from heaven and has healed our land,” they declared.

They described Mangu Prays 2026 not just as a programme but as the beginning of a new Mangu, expressing hope that the prayers will bring revival and restoration to the land.

The organizers added that they intentionally took prayers to the four critical institutions in the locality to seek divine intervention for peace and restoration of Mangu.

The prophetic prayer walk comes barely 24 hours after gunmen attacked the vegetable market in Mangu town, killing three people and injuring six others including a six-month-old baby.

The incident, which occurred at about 8:30pm on Friday as traders were closing, has heightened tension in the town.

The Mwaghavul Youth Movement had on Thursday condemned the shooting, describing it as a targeted attack on Mwaghavul travellers and demanding thorough investigation and increased security presence around markets and major roads.

Residents say the prayer walk was both spiritual and symbolic — a response to recurring killings that have claimed over 750 lives in Mangu in the past three years, according to local development associations.
