The People-Oriented Development arm of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), ECWA POD, has launched a four-day Trauma Healing and Humanitarian Support Conference in Jos, Plateau State, to minister to Nigerians scarred by violence and persecution.
With the theme “Every Life Matters: Restoring Hope, Providing Relief, Rebuilding Lives,” the conference brings together 100 participants from 43 communities across six ECWA District Church Councils.
The conference is focusing on survivors of gun violence, victims of rape, those displaced by attacks, and others carrying deep emotional and psychological wounds.
Declaring the gathering open, ECWA President, Rev. Dr. Ayuba Job Bagat, acknowledged the pain many participants have endured.

“You are free to cry, to rest, and to express your emotions without fear,” he told the participants. God remains present with you. He can bring healing.”
Dr. Bagat urged them to forgive their perpetrators and pray for their transformation, reminding them that their lives are precious to God.

“God values your lives, and you are equally valued by ECWA and our sponsor, Bread for the World, Germany,” he said before officially declaring the conference open.
ECWA Assistant General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Sunday Congo, also encouraged participants to receive the teachings with open hearts.
He urged them not to let fear control their minds, but to rely on the Word of God as a shield and a source of strength.

In his address, Director of People Oriented Development of ECWA, Rev. Abednego Kam, said the conference is designed to help participants understand that fear after trauma is a natural response, while pointing them to Christ as their ultimate shelter and comfort.
Through biblical teaching, counselling, and humanitarian support, he explained, the programme seeks to move participants from fear and isolation into the protective and comforting presence of God, in line with 2 Timothy 1:7 and Psalm 56:3.
The conference, supported by Bread for the World, Germany, combines spiritual care with practical relief. Organizers say the aim is not just emotional healing, but also rebuilding lives and restoring hope in communities devastated by years of attacks.
