June 12: Gov. Mutfwang Grants Absolute Pardon to 4 Plateau Citizens
As part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, Governor Caleb Mutfwang approved the grant of an Absolute Pardon to four citizens of Plateau State.
The pardon followed recommendations by the Plateau State Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy through the State Ministry of Justice and due consideration by the Nigerian Correctional Service.
While urging the beneficiaries to become “responsible and productive citizens,” the governor called on the people of the state not to relent in supporting efforts aimed at promoting peace, unity, justice, and social cohesion.
The Governor stated that the gesture is a reflection of his administration’s commitment to balancing justice with mercy, rehabilitation, and human dignity, while providing opportunities for redemption and reintegration.
He, however, thanked Plateau people for their trust, prayers, constructive engagement, and unwavering support and assured that the government remains committed to delivering sustainable development and improving the well-being of all citizens.
Gov. Mutfwang further encouraged Nigerians to remain committed to democratic ideals and work collectively towards building a more secure, prosperous, and united nation.
The four persons are Nanchang Ramyil, Sale Ayuba, Abdullahi Haruna A. Yusuf, and John Monday.
