Christian leaders, professionals, and thought leaders will converge at ECWA Plateau Church, Jos, from October 18 to 20, 2026, for the Church and Nation Dialogue, convened as a prophetic call to reimagine Nigeria ahead of its 70th independence anniversary in 2030.

The Dialogue comes at a defining moment in Nigeria’s journey: a nation whose birth was negotiated through constitutional conferences, but whose future now hinges on recovering a shared moral and spiritual framework for public life.

Without such a common reference, organizers warn, Nigeria risks remaining a collection of contending factions, yet Scripture and history show that genuine national rebirth is still possible under God’s purposes for nations.

Framed as a Kairos moment, the 2025 to 2030 period is seen as a critical five-year window to reframe Nigeria’s national narrative, ethical foundation and social order as the country approaches its Platinum Jubilee.

The Nigerian Church, with its extensive human infrastructure across the nation, is strategically placed to lead that conversation for a Nigeria that works for the common good.

Organizers emphasized that the Church and Nation Dialogue is not just an event and not a talk shop. It is conceived as a space for churches in Jos to think together and act together, seeding a culture where the Church engages the big issues shaping Nigeria’s moral, social, political and economic future through a biblical lens, so that Christians interpret culture, governance, economics and social change first through Scripture rather than merely through politics or ethnicity, drawing inspiration from the Jubilee in Leviticus 25 as a template for socio-cultural transformation.

The Dialogue seeks to nurture a steady, thoughtful and intentional joint Christian engagement that moves the Church beyond occasional reactions to becoming a consistent and future-focused shaper of society, especially within the strategic window of 2026 to 2030, while strengthening its prophetic witness in public life to speak truth with wisdom, courage, humility and consistency and to advance godly alternatives such as reconciliation, civic integrity, moral renewal and stronger communities.

It also aims to bring churches together in unity rather than isolation to agree on periodic strategic dialogues and establish a cross-denominational Church-led platform for engaging national issues with shared purpose, while helping the Church respond faithfully and constructively to cultural and policy shifts that threaten justice, freedom, human dignity and democratic values.

Beyond the three-day gathering, the Dialogue is intended to set in motion a process that equips Christian leaders and professionals to carry their faith into the workplace and the public square in banking, education, media, governance, law, business and community life, ultimately mobilizing churches for gospel-rooted nation-building that serves peace, justice and the flourishing of all Nigerians.
