COLLECTIVE ACTION, STAKEHOLDER COLLABORATION KEY TO SUSTAINABLE PEACE AND UNITY IN PLATEAU – GOV. MUTFWANG

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has reiterated that collective action and stakeholder collaboration remain the key to achieving lasting peace and unity across the state.

The governor stated this when he played host to the House of Representatives Adhoc Committee on Security in Plateau.

Represented by his Deputy, Hon. Josephine Piyo, the governor expressed appreciation to the Committee for its proactive intervention and commitment to finding enduring solutions to the security situation in the state.

Governor Mutfwang commended President Bola Tinubu for his continued support and dedication to restoring peace, noting that while the security situation remains a serious concern, his administration has continued to implement strategic measures aimed at curbing violence, strengthening community engagement, and enhancing collaboration with security agencies.

He assured the Committee of the Government’s full cooperation and support in the discharge of its mandate, stressing that collective action and stakeholder collaboration remain key to achieving sustainable peace and unity across the state.

Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of the committee Hon. Adewale Ahmed expressed deep concern over the resurgence of violent attacks, the loss of innocent lives, and the destruction of property in parts of Plateau State.

Hon. Ahmed noted that the alarming trend necessitated the intervention of the National Assembly, leading to the constitution of the Adhoc Committee by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.

He disclosed that the Committee has commenced work by receiving memoranda from various stakeholders and will convene a comprehensive dialogue involving all relevant parties to identify both immediate and underlying causes of the crisis, with the ultimate goal of achieving lasting peace.

The Chairman also acknowledged the efforts of President Tinubu in deploying necessary strategies and resources to address the security challenges across the country, including Plateau State.
