Taraba NSCDC Cooperative Takes Delivery of New Buses from GOWANS Bank

GOWANS Microfinance Bank (GMFB) has handed over 2 new Hummer Buses to the leadership of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Taraba State Command, multi-purpose Cooperative Society.
At a brief but historic event within the premises of GOWANS Bank in Jos, Plateau State, two new Hummer buses were handed over to the leadership of the NSCDC Cooperative Society, Taraba State Command. The buses were handed over as a result of the partnership between the bank and the cooperative society.
During the presentation, GOWANS Microfinance Bank Managing Director, Dr Kingsley Dickson, explained how the bank’s partnership with the NSCDC Cooperative Society began in Plateau State.
According to him, it is the partnership with the NSCDC Cooperative Society in Jos that has led to that between the GMFB and the NSCDC Cooperative Society of Taraba State Command.
He disclosed that GMFB has so far distributed 160 motorcycles, 14 HiJET mini buses and 10 tricycles to the Plateau Command of the NSCDC Cooperative.
The Managing Director stated that, aside from distributing tricycles and motorcycles, the bank has also ventured into commodity loans.
Dr Dickson described the partnership with the NSCDC Cooperative society as an initiative born out of the need to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy, which has turned fuel into a “luxury.”
Receiving the buses, Mr Gimba Emmanuel Yerima, President of the Taraba NSCDC Command Cooperative Society, in the company of other officials of the Society, expressed gratitude to God for making the partnership come to fruition.
He said, “I must appreciate God for this day. I thank the Managing Director of GOWANS for pushing this effort to fulfilment.”
Mr Yerima, while commending other officials and members of the Cooperative society for their support of his leadership, described the presentation of the vehicles as “a breakthrough” for the bank to have advanced from motorcycles to Hummer buses.
Speaking on the purpose for the purchase of the buses, Mr Yerima said they would be strictly used for commercial purposes.
He, however, expressed optimism that the buses would generate revenue for the Cooperative, acknowledging that it was on the basis of integrity that the current leadership emerged.
He also assured that they will do their best so as not to fail GMFB and pledged to woo other commands and formations to patronise the bank by taking advantage of the bank’s products and services.
Earlier, in a short exhortation taken from Deuteronomy 28:1-10, the Director of Radio ELWA, Rev. Abel Dauji, encouraged the officials of the NSCDC Cooperative to always obey God in all they do.
The cleric who centred his message on the blessings of obeying God posited that there is no limitation to God’s blessings in the lives of those who obey His command.
In a brief presentation on some of the bank’s products, Head of Credits and Marketing of GOWANS Microfinance Bank, Pallyon’top Felicia Solomon disclosed that GMFB has a product known as Hire Purchase Agreement that allows organisations to collect loans on behalf of their members.
She explained that the product came into existence in 2016 but started operation in 2017.
According to her, the assets under this scheme belong to the Bank until payment is fully made at the end.
Mrs Solomon added that so far, GOWANS has disbursed over 300 tricycles and 100 motorcycles.
She commended the officials of the Taraba NSCDC Cooperative for the steps taken to positively impact their members and urged them to do their best so that others can benefit from the scheme.
There were goodwill messages from the Managing Director of ECWA Port Folio Assets Management, Mr Bolakale Jimoh and the Managing Director of ECWA Central Pharmacy Limited, Pharmacist Dr Esther Hayab, among other guests at the event.
The high point of the occasion was the presentation of the keys of the buses to the officials of the Cooperative.
