The poll followed months of controversy and leadership tussle arising from a disputed election conducted in July, which left the chapel divided.

The rerun was organized to give members a fresh opportunity to settle the leadership question through a recognized electoral process.

In her acceptance speech, Gwani commended the Electoral Committee and chapel members for their participation and pledged to foster unity, saying her administration would chart a new course for the chapel and advance the welfare and professional interests of journalists in Plateau State.

Meanwhile, Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has congratulated Gwani on her emergence.

In a congratulatory message issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Gyang Bere, the Governor described her victory as a reflection of the confidence reposed in her leadership qualities, professional competence, integrity and years of experience.
