The Mwaghavul Youth Movement, MYM, has condemned the attack on a 55-year-old farmer, Mr. Ishaya Pandok, who was reportedly macheted by suspected Fulani attackers while working on his farm in Ajing community of Panyam District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
In a statement issued on October 2, 2026, by its Director of Public Affairs, Tubwot Joël Sunday, the youth group said the incident occurred in broad daylight two days ago and left the victim with injuries that required medical attention.
The MYM described the attack as disturbing and unacceptable, saying no citizen should have to risk his life to carry out legitimate farming activities which remain the primary livelihood of thousands of people in the area.
“The Mwaghavul Youth Movement once again condemns this incident in the strongest terms and calls on the relevant security agencies to urgently investigate the attack, identify the attackers responsible and ensure that the victim and other farming communities receive adequate protection,” the statement said.

The group expressed concern over recurring security challenges confronting farmers and rural communities in parts of Mangu, calling for immediate protection of farming communities.
The youth body also cautioned against sweeping accusations against entire communities when criminal acts are committed, insisting that such acts must be investigated based on evidence and attributed to actual perpetrators.
“Any criminal act committed by an individual or group must be investigated based on evidence and attributed to the actual perpetrators, rather than being used to make sweeping accusations against an entire community,” it said.
It added that victims of attacks deserve the same seriousness, urgency and protection expected in any other security incident.
The MYM further rejected what it described as a situation where Mwaghavul farmers who attempt to protect themselves, report suspicious movements or respond to threats are automatically portrayed as cattle rustlers or aggressors by the military without transparent investigation.
The Movement reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful coexistence, justice and protection of innocent lives, while insisting that security challenges be addressed through facts, evidence, accountability and equal protection under the law.
