Mwaghavul Youth Movement Condemns Killing of Security Personnel in Mangu, Demands Swift Justice

The Mwaghavul Youth Movement has condemned the killing of a security personnel in Manja, Chakfem District of Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State, describing the attackers as “enemies of peace and progress.”

The incident occurred on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

In a statement signed by MYM Director of Public Affairs, Tubwot Joël Sunday, and released on Monday, July 27, the group expressed condolences to the family of the slain officer, his colleagues, and the entire security community.

Led by MYM National President, Comr. Engr. Kyesmang Jonathan Yusuf, the movement’s leadership paid a sympathy visit to the Commander in Manja.

During the visit, the group reaffirmed the support of Mwaghavul youths for all security agencies working to restore peace in Mangu LGA.

“We strongly condemn the actions of the armed criminals responsible for this heinous attack,” Comr. Kyesmang said.

“Those who ambush and kill security personnel are enemies of peace and progress. They seek to instil fear, undermine lawful authority, and prolong insecurity in our communities. Such acts must never be tolerated.”

The Mwaghavul Youth Movement called on security agencies to identify, arrest, and prosecute all those responsible for the crime in accordance with the law.

The MYM President assured security personnel of the “full cooperation” of Mwaghavul youths, particularly in providing timely and credible information.

“Community partnership with security agencies remains one of the most effective tools in the fight against insecurity,” he said.

The MYM leadership also urged youth leaders in Chakfem District to strengthen collaboration with the movement to combat criminality threatening lives and livelihoods across Mangu LGA.

The group said it remains committed to promoting peace and protecting lives in Mwaghavul land and across Mangu LGA.

“The Mwaghavul Youth Movement remains determined in its commitment to ensuring that criminal elements have no place in Mwaghavul land or anywhere in Mangu Local Government Area,” the statement read.

Mangu LGA has experienced repeated cycles of violence and insecurity in recent years, with both civilian and security personnel casualties recorded.
